AEC’s 2021 at the KHP!

We just wrapped up a whirlwind week at the Kentucky Horse Park for the AECs. To say that I am proud of this group of riders and their crew is an understatement. It is every event riders dream to take a victory lap in the Rolex Stadium or to gallop their horses on the gorgeous turf at the KHP feeling the wind whipping in their faces just like it does for those who are fortunate (and brave) enough to take on this country’s biggest track here in April every year. It can be hard to explain the emotion that comes with getting to compete here to anyone who is not a part of our sport. For perspective imagine a lifelong baseball fan getting to play a game under the lights at Wrigley Field… it’s truly magical and completely overwhelming!

The week was bookended by rain for arrival and departure but had some of the most perfect weather and footing for everyone to enjoy in between. The competition was stiff with roughly 50 entries in each division and around 1000 competitors starting the event. My students, some new and some I feel like I have known forever, had the experience of a lifetime all putting in stellar performances with not a single cross country penalty incurred among them and few even finished on their dressage scores. We had a super support team as well… we all know it takes a village and a strong village we had!

Thank you all for involving me in this truly special week. I am overjoyed and SO proud of you all!!
